About

Clinical education, written by someone who does the work.

Clinical Knowledge Hub™ is written for the settings where decisions are made quickly and with incomplete information: urgent care, emergency department fast track and primary care.

Why most clinical education does not stick

Most material tells you what to do. It lists the criteria, the doses and the differentials, and assumes you will remember them. Knowledge without reasoning has nothing to attach to.

Every topic here answers the question underneath the fact. Why does this sign appear? Why does this rule exclude what it excludes? Why does this patient present atypically? When the mechanism is clear, the fact stops needing to be memorised.

The thread through everything

poor assessment → wrong diagnosis → wrong treatment → patient harm

Every module traces that chain. Assessment is taught because it determines diagnosis; reasoning, because it determines management; prescribing, because it is where reasoning becomes consequence.

Written for Australia

Content is developed against Australian practice: Therapeutic Guidelines, AURA, RACGP and ACRRM standards, NMBA requirements, ACSQHC standards, and state frameworks such as CEC and Between the Flags. Medicine availability, PBS access, scope of practice, referral pathways and escalation protocols differ between countries; material written for another country can mislead on all of them.

Who writes this

Amar Sharma, Endorsed Nurse Practitioner

Clinical Knowledge Hub is written by Amar Sharma, an Endorsed Nurse Practitioner practising in urgent care, with previous emergency department experience as an advanced practice nurse and during Nurse Practitioner training.

His background is unusual for clinical education: a Bachelor of Pharmacy before nursing, then a Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry), a Postgraduate Diploma in Emergency Nursing, and a Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner).

That pharmacy grounding is why prescribing is treated here as a clinical act rather than an administrative one, and why the medicines content goes further than most nursing education does.

Every lesson is written and clinically reviewed by a practising clinician. Nothing is published without that review.
